School Age Classes Info

The Incredible Years School-Age Program is designed for parents of children ages 6 to 12 years old. This program helps families navigate the challenges of raising school-age children, focusing on building emotional regulation, responsibility, academic success, and respectful behavior at home and in school.

This research based program empowers parents with effective tools to strengthen relationships, encourage responsibility, support academic skills, and address defiance, aggression, or attention difficulties in respectful and structured ways.

This is a 12-week program provided by therapists who have years of experience working with families and children, classes are provided online through zoom to offer convenience for parents.

Some of the topics that are covered are:

Helping children develop imaginative and creative play
Building children's self-esteem and self-confidence through supportive parental attention
Understanding how to use academic and persistence coaching to encourage children's persistence and focus
Learning to use emotion coaching to build emotional literacy
Knowing how to use praise more effectively
Understanding the difference between rewards and bribes
Recognizing when to use the "first-then" rule
Understanding how to establish clear and predictable routines
The importance of household rules
Identifying unclear, vague, and negative commands
Recognizing how to help children be more compliant
Avoiding power struggles
Providing positive support for children's reading
Understanding how to build on children's strengths
Understanding how television and computer games interfere with learning
Recognizing that every child learns different skills at different rates according to their developmental ability

Each Week:

We will cover material through group discussion, brainstorms, and video examples of topics we are covering, as well as individual reading and worksheets. Each parent who enrolls in the program will receive an interactive workbook that follows the weekly topics we are addressing as well as interactive worksheets to help you further understand the material. I incorporate all of these things to meet each learning style; visual, audio and written. You will also have access to me via phone, text and email while we are working together.
